Steve Backe-Hansen

Steve Backe-Hansen is the General Manager of Marketing, Brand, and Communications at ChristchurchNZ. He leads a team of marketing, communications, and digital professionals dedicated to shaping and sharing the city’s narrative. Through strategic campaigns and initiatives, Steve and his team work to strengthen the brand of both ChristchurchNZ and Ōtautahi Christchurch.

Steve’s career spans a diverse range of sectors, including private industry, tertiary education, and local government. He has held various leadership roles, covering strategic marketing, digital, eCommerce, and customer experience.


Dan Terris

Dan is a marketing professional and people leader with 20 years of experience delivering marketing and brand strategy in both public and private sector organisations and is the Head of Marketing & Brand at ChristchurchNZ.


Dan has led the marketing activity for many of Christchurch’s newest facilities, including He Puna Taimoana – the New Brighton Hot Pools and Tūranga Central Library, and has led Local Government marketing activity for several major events, including Rugby World Cup 2011, Cricket World Cup 2015, and the FIFA U-20 World Cup 2015.
